Fire Youth Academy

The Fire Youth Academy is a one-week program designed to show students what we do in the fire service.  In this one-week program students aged 15-18 go through a weeklong Academy, based on the actual Fire Academy new hires go through.

During the FYA, students learn skills such as:

  • Using Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA)

  • Search and rescue drills

  • Use of fire hose lines and extinguishers

  • Hands-only CPR

Students also regularly participate in physical fitness activities and build teamwork and memories for a lifetime!

Requirements:

  • Must be a resident of Kent County

  • Must be in good standing at school

  • Must be in good physical condition

  • Must be 15 to 18 years old

Dates for 2024 FYA are not yet set - if you are interested in being contacted when the application is open, please email Lt. Matthew Stevens.
